2007-08: Drafted first overall in the 2008 OHL Priority by the Sudbury Wolves. Played for the Toronto Jr. Canadiens Junior A team, scoring 96 goals and adding 69 assists for 165 points. Was the MVP of the 2008 OHL Showcase Tournament.
2008-09: Played in 58 games for the Sudbury Wolves, scoring 21 goals and adding 31 assists for 52 points. He was a -30 for the season, and recorded 36 penalty minutes.
