History

2007-08: This was Savard’s first season in the QMJHL, which saw the Quebec native blue-line for the Baie-Comeau Drakkar. In 35 games, the D-man tallied seven points (1g+6a) and just 22 PIM with the club. A mid-season trade would bring him to the Moncton Wildcats, a team looking to add both depth and strength to their defense. In 32 games with the Wildcats, Savard recorded five assists. He also won the 2007 RDS mid-season Rookie Excellence award.

2008-09: Savard had an excellent sophomore season with Moncton (QMJHL), improving on his numbers from last season greatly. In 68 games with the Wildcats, he recorded nine goals and 35 assists for a total of 44 points. He finished the season with a +29 average; compare that to his -21 last season, and you can see that his game really stepped up.

Talent Analysis

A solid skater, Savard does not back down from a challenge and plays an airtight game in his own zone. He's equally adept in the offensive zone, where he posted nine goals and 44 points in 68 games to place second on the team in defensive scoring.
