History

On June 27, 2009, Larkin became the first ever Italian-trained player to be drafted by an NHL club. The son of an American father and Italian mother, he was born in London, England.

Larkin spent most of his life in Italy, then moved to the United States. He was switched to defense by his high school coach.

2008-09: High school senior with Phillips Exeter Academy. He set the single season scoring record for a defenseman with 52 points. Earned team MVP honors and All-New England honors. Ranked 87th among North Americans by Central Scouting (final).

HF's January 2010 Q&A with Larkin.

Talent Analysis

Larkin is still raw, but with his towering size at 6’5 he is a high-reward type player. Good shot, good skating, but needs to work on gap control.

Future

Offensive defenseman with size, hard worker.

Attends Colgate University.
